Re:          Important Changes to UC Benefits Programs for Pandemic Relief
UC is extending the timeframe in which employees may make changes to their benefit plans under the provisions of Notice 2020-29<https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-20-29.pdf>. This guidance document allows employers, at their discretion, to expand employees' and non-Medicare retirees' opportunities to make changes to their Section 125 benefit plans, which for UC includes the medical plans and the Health and Dependent Care (DepCare) Flexible Spending Arrangements (Notice 2020-29).
Currently the deadline is October 28, 2020. Since the pandemic has not yet waned, the deadline is being extended indefinitely. When the end of the COVID-19 National Emergency has been declared, an assessment will be made to establish a new deadline.
