*About:*
CSU Bakersfield was founded in 1965. The Roadrunners are based at
California State University, Bakersfield, which is centrally established on
a 375-acre property in the southern San Joaquin Valley. In the current
economic climate, CSUB is a great deal. For the cost of a public school,
you can obtain all the advantages of a private institution, including small
class numbers, leading edge research, and superb instructors. The
university has been recognized by Washington Monthly as a "Best Bang for
the Buck" school in the Eastern Region and by Great Value College as a top
affordable university with a strong return on investment. They pursue
academic advancement at a breakneck pace. CSUB consistently ranks higher in
the country because of its investment in the achievement of its students
and it economic worth. The student population is diverse, and most of its
graduates stay in the Valley to tackle the difficult problems facing our
area. The university has 4 schools; Arts and Humanities, Business and
Public Administration, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering,
Social Sciences, and Education. It engages around 9,000 people on its main
campus in Bakersfield, and it has about 64, 000 alumni.

*Career of the Month: Biological Engineer*

To solve a wide range of technical issues, biological engineers research
biological processes and combine them with engineering concepts. Biological
engineers, for instance, create new methods of cleaning our air and water,
genetically modify bacteria to create fuel, medicines, or remove toxins,
and create machinery for harvesting and processing food. In addition to
studying several engineering specialties including mechanical, chemical,
and electrical engineering, biological engineers are also knowledgeable in
biology. Biological engineers are extremely valuable in today's demanding
interdisciplinary environment because of their diversified knowledge.

Biological engineers play a wide range of vocations in academia, business,
and government that benefit our society. Because biological engineering is
such a broad field, biologists find themselves working in food production,
genetic engineering, bioprocessing, bioenergy, the environment, and
biomedical, all while pursuing a sustainable future.

   - Analytical Skills
      - Must assess the needs of patients of patients and customers prior
      to designing products
   - Communication Skills
      - Routinely collaborate with teams and occasionally interact with
      patients. Reports and research articles are also written by them.
   - Creativity
      - Must be creative to come up with innovations in healthcare
      equipment and devices.
   - Math Skills
      - Use calculus and other advanced math and statistics for analysis,
      design, and troubleshooting in their work
   - Problem Solving Skills
      - Typically deals with intricate biological systems

*An overview of how to become a Biological Engineer*

   - Earn an undergraduate Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related
   Discipline (4 years)
   - Get work experience (At least 4 years to qualify for a PE License)
   - Earn a graduate degree in Bioengineering (Optional, 1 year or more)
   - Get one's PE license
