The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Hamburg invites
applications for a permanent position at the Asien-Afrika-Institut, in the
field of

Language and Culture of Thailand
(Thai Studies, Professorship W 2, specialization open, reference number
1943/W2)

with the starting date of April 1, 2009.

The University wants to increase the number of women in teaching and
research. Women are therefore strongly urged to apply. According to the
Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, if candidates are equally qualified, women
will be considered with priority.

The appointee should be able to represent the field of Thai Studies in
research and teaching. Willingness to cooperate in transregional
interdisciplinary research and teaching programs, especially in Area
Studies, is expected. The teaching load is currently nine hours per week
and semester.

Conditions of employment are in compliance with  15 Hamburgisches
Hochschulgesetz.

One priority of the University of Hamburg is to improve teaching.

description of your experience as well as your concepts about research,
teaching and the development of Thai Studies, attaching at this first
