Dear Faculty Supervisors,

The Graduate Student Management System (GSMS) Employment Module is now
live! With the module’s timely release for fall quarter hiring, below are
key reminders and resources to help you successfully fulfill your role in
the hiring process.
Preparing Descriptions of Duties (DODs) for Offers

One of the key steps in the graduate student hiring process is the creation
and assignment of Descriptions of Duties (DoDs). As you know, as a faculty
supervisor you are responsible for defining DoDs for academic student
employees (ASEs) and graduate student researchers (GSRs) and working with
your department staff to get positions posted.

GSMS now streamlines this process, centralizing and simplifying where you
complete these tasks. The following actions are now performed within the
Employment Module of gradsms.ucr.edu (UCR login required):

   -

   View offer details
   -

Add a DoD to an offer
   -

   Edit existing DoDs
   -

Copy a DoD from a DoD in the Current Offer Record (ASE position)
   -

Copy a DoD from a Previous Offer (for ASE and GSR positions)
   -

View current and historical Appointment and DoD letters in an offer

GSMS serves as your all-in-one tool in hiring academic graduate student
employees, optimizing hiring processes and freeing up your time to focus on
supervising and mentoring students.
Coming Soon: GSMS Enhancements for Faculty Supervisor Role

One of the upcoming GSMS Employment enhancements you can look forward to is
the expanded permissions for faculty supervisors in the system, which will
include the ability to initiate modifications to offers after they are sent
to applicants.
