Dear Colleague,

We are writing to inform you about the planned upgrade of UC Riverside’s
campus camera system security infrastructure, happening from June 8 to 17,
2026.
What Is Changing and Why?

All campus cameras currently hosted on the ONSSI platform will migrate over
to Genetec. This new service will provide the university with an upgraded,
more robust interface, enhanced reliability, and modernized features to
better support our campus security needs.
When Is The Migration Happening?

Information Technology Solutions (ITS) and the UC Riverside Police
Department (UCR PD) will initiate the migration of existing cameras and the
transition of authorized user access on June 8, 2026. The migration process
is planned through June 17, 2026.
Who and What Areas Are Affected?

This change affects all current users of the ONSSI system. All campus
cameras presently utilizing ONSSI across all building locations will be
migrated to the new Genetec system.
Will There be System Outages?

During the migration window (June 8 to 17), the existing camera system will
be intermittently offline as feeds are transferred (note that the existing
camera system may be inaccessible during the full migration window). Please
be assured that any extended periods of downtime will be closely
coordinated with UCR PD leadership to ensure campus safety is maintained.
Do You Need to Take Action?

No action is needed on your part prior to the cutover. Your current access
and permissions are being mapped over as part of the migration process.
Instructions on how to access and utilize the new Genetec system will be
shared with you prior to the planned completion of the migration process on
June 17.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to upgrade our
campus camera system’s security infrastructure. If you have questions about
the planned upgrade, please reach out to ITS’ Technical Program Manager,
Azra Ayers (azra.ayers at ucr.edu).

Sincerely,
