Dear Campus User,

We reached out to you on May 28th because your Windows 11 device may have
been impacted by an update which could disable it.

We have identified the root cause of the issue, which was a corrupted patch
file that affected a small subset of Windows 11 users on campus. This file
has been blocked from deployment.

Users should be able to safely reboot and update devices now, but we ask
that you refrain from doing so until Monday, June 3rd, in case any issues
are experienced. We’ve observed that it sometimes takes more than one
reboot for the computer to behave normally after the update.

If you have any concerns, please contact BearHelp at 951-827-4848 from
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Many users have already worked with ITS to resolve the issues caused by the
corrupted file. If you are one of those users, please disregard this
message.

Please contact me at lily.barger at ucr.edu if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Lily Barger
