[Campus Notice] Action May Be Required: New SSO Implementation for MathWorks Software

Dear Highlander,


We are contacting you today because our records indicate that you are a
current or former user of MathWorks at UC Riverside. This communication is
to inform you of changes coming to MathWorks on May 31st that will impact
the way UCR users will sign into the service.


UCR is transitioning to Single Sign-On (SSO) for accessing MathWorks
software, including MATLAB, MATLAB Online, Simulink, and over 100+
additional products available through the Campus-Wide License. This change
aims to streamline the login process, enhance security, and provide a more
integrated user experience. As always, please continue to access the
software through the University of California Riverside - MATLAB Portal
<https://www.mathworks.com/academia/tah-portal/university-of-california-riverside-1142222.html>
for the best user experience.



Why Single Sign-On (SSO):

SSO simplifies the process of accessing multiple services by requiring
users to authenticate only once. This means:

   -

   Enhanced Security: Security is improved through centralized management
   of user access and credentials.
   -

   Convenience: Users no longer need to remember multiple passwords for
   different services, reducing password fatigue.
   -

   Efficiency: Reduces the time spent by users and IT staff on
   password-related support issues.

The transition to SSO is currently underway and is expected to be completed
by May 31st, 2024. There will be minimal disruption to accessing MathWorks
products during the transition. Users may be prompted to authenticate
through the new SSO system upon first access post-transition. Users will
need to ensure their university credentials are up to date. No additional
action is required at this time.

Users are encouraged to follow the following steps to ensure a smooth
transition:
