User Experience Post-Deployment
- Phone icon in Zoom application: Zoom Phone is now accessible via your
existing Zoom application (the same client used for Zoom meetings). All
calling activities (inbound and outbound) are now routed through a new
phone icon in your Zoom application (see below).
-
Current desk phone: Your current desk phone is now inoperable, as Zoom
Phone Services has been activated. Zoom Phone does not require a desk
phone.
-
Voicemail: Please watch this video
<https://youtu.be/Asc8OOLhRcc?feature=shared&t=159> for guidance on how
to set up your new voicemail.
Equipment
-
As part of our commitment to sustainability, the ITS Telecom/Network
team will contact each Department and arrange to pick up old phone
equipment. Please note that desk phones will not be replaced because
Zoom Phone does not require a physical phone to place and receive calls. You
will be able to place and receive calls using your device’s microphone and
speaker (alternatively, if you currently use a headset to conduct Zoom
meetings, the headset can be used as the microphone/speaker).
-
Equipment alternatives:
-
If you determine that your device is not sufficient and a physical
phone is required, a Telecom work order
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=sc_category&catalog_id=6dc6382437e8cb40a2e983dcb3990e88>
must be submitted. Please read the Zoom Phone FAQs
<https://its.ucr.edu/zoom-phone-services#Zoom-FAQ> for more details.
-
If needed, please speak to your unit administrator about
purchasing a compatible
headset <https://its.ucr.edu/headset-standards> (Note: Any headset
that is currently being used for Zoom video conferencing will
work for Zoom
Phone—no changes are needed).
If you have questions or concerns, you may reach the Zoom Phone Project
Team via email at zoomphonepilot at ucr.edu. We look forward to hearing your
experience with Zoom Phone Services!
Thank you,
The Zoom Phone Project Team
