Dear Campus Phone User,
We are pleased to announce that your unit has successfully migrated to Zoom
Phone Services today, July 13, 2023. This upgrade replaced existing
telephony hardware with a unified, modern telephony platform.
What You Need to Know
-
All calling activities (inbound and outbound) now occur through the new
Zoom Phone icon in the Zoom Meeting application.
-
You may experience intermittent call issues for a few minutes during the
transition period. This is normal as the numbers are being ported from
one carrier to another.
-
As Zoom Phone Services is now activated, your current desk phone is
inoperable.
-
To make sure you’re prepared to get the most out of Zoom Phone Services,
training was offered on July 11, 2023. If you were unable to attend the
live training session, please complete the recorded training
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcK3nYWeBng> and watch this brief video
introduction <https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360028936531> to
Zoom Phone Services.
-
Frequently asked questions (FAQs) are answered on the Zoom Phone
Services webpage <https://its.ucr.edu/zoom-phone-services#Zoom-FAQ>.
-
As part of our commitment to sustainability, the ITS Telecom/Network
team will contact each Department and arrange to pick up existing
handsets. Please
note that desk phones will not be replaced. Users are strongly
encouraged to evaluate the Zoom Phone desktop and mobile applications for
their phone needs. If a physical phone is required, a Telecom work order
<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=sc_category&catalog_id=6dc6382437e8cb40a2e983dcb3990e88>
must be submitted. Please read the Zoom Phone FAQs
<https://its.ucr.edu/zoom-phone-services#Zoom-FAQ> for more details.
-
Headsets will be offered by each department on a case-by-case basis. If
needed, please speak to your unit administrator about purchasing a
compatible
headset <https://its.ucr.edu/headset-standards> (Note: Any headset that
is currently being used for Zoom video conferencing will work for Zoom
Phone—no changes are needed).
-
Your voicemail greeting, voicemail messages, and speed dials were not
transferred from your current phone to your new Zoom Phone account.
Please refer to the recorded training
<https://youtu.be/IcK3nYWeBng?t=686> for instructions on how to set up
your new voicemail.
