[Campus Notice] Multi-Factor Authentication Now Required for Campus VPN

Dear UCR Affiliate,

In response to a recent security event, effective immediately multi-factor
authentication (MFA) is required to access the campus virtual private
network (VPN). This change is required to enforce the level of security
required to protect campus users and data.

If you have not yet configured MFA for your UCR NetID account and need to
access the campus GlobalProtect VPN, you will need to call the ITS BearHelp
at 951-827-4848 during normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 8
AM to 5 PM) to request that BearHelp enable MFA for your account. Once MFA
has been enabled and you have completed the enrollment process for your
account, you will need to verify your identity using MFA when logging into
any secure UCR resource, including VPN.

If you do not need to use the campus GlobalProtect VPN, please disregard
this message.

Important reminder: If you are no longer able to access your UCR account,
including after setting up MFA, report it immediately to abuse at ucr.edu. For
other IT assistance, you can submit an IT support ticket

at any time at its.ucr.edu/support.
