Dear Slack Owner,
We are reaching out because you have been identified as an owner of a Slack
workspace instance at UC Riverside. We are pleased to inform you that UCR
Information Technology Solutions has recently procured an enterprise
license agreement with Slack, referred to as an Enterprise Grid. As a
result, your workspace will be integrated into this enterprise license.
Slack’s Enterprise Grid is designed to house unlimited workspaces that are
connected within the container of our University. This provides the
following benefits:
- Importantly, it enables ITS to provide greater security and ensure
policy compliance, which in turn better protects both users and the
University
- It connects the resources and knowledge of UC Riverside while
providing the freedom to create exclusive workspaces for departments,
classes, committees, etc.
- It provides a singular collaboration tool that connects all members of
our campus community (staff, faculty, and students)
- It offers robust API to connect with other tools, such as Google
Drive, OneDrive, and ServiceNow
- It provides message and file retention beyond 90 days
- Last but certainly not least, the Slack Enterprise Grid means
individual units no longer have to pay for licenses
As mentioned, existing UCR workspaces will need to be migrated to the new
Enterprise Grid. To help ensure a smooth migration of your Slack workspace, *we
ask that you schedule your migration by contacting ITS Manager of Systems
Engineering Okey Uchendu at okey.uchendu at ucr.edu <okey.uchendu at ucr.edu>.*
Please email Okey your availability, as well as any questions or concerns
you may have about the migration.
*Your response is kindly requested by Monday, November 21, 2022. *
