[Campus Notice] UCR.EDU Account Management for Atlassian Products

UCR Information Technology Solutions tech-bulletin at lists.ucr.edu
Fri Jul 15 15:24:03 PDT 2022

Dear User,

In keeping with our commitment to a more agile, scalable, and secure campus
infrastructure, Information Technology Solutions (ITS) will claim all
Atlassian accounts associated with the “ucr.edu” domain. By doing this, UCR
ITS will be able to ensure a secure and seamless experience when accessing
Atlassian products.
*This change will take effect on July 25, 2022. *
Atlassian products include but are not limited to Trello, Jira, Confluence,
Bitbucket, Statuspage, Opsgenie, and Halp. *Our records indicate that you
have an account under one of these products that is registered with a
“ucr.edu <http://ucr.edu>” email address and, therefore, you will be
affected by this change.*

After July 25, 2022, any changes such as edits to your Atlassian account
will require the assistance of ITS. In the days and weeks following the
claiming of the Atlassian accounts, ITS will work toward integrating UCR’s
single sign-on with Atlassian services. Once the integration is complete,
you will be required to authenticate your identity when accessing an
Atlassian product.

These changes to user experience are driven by our continued efforts to
improve the security of and access to campus resources and data. By
claiming these accounts, ITS will be able to require and set up single
sign-on through CAS (multi-factor authentication), sync users from our
enterprise directory, and provide the level of access campus users have
come to expect when accessing campus resources. Please see this article on
Atlassian accounts

and this article on Atlassian organizations
<https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/what-is-an-atlassian-organization/>
for additional information related to this change.

*Please note that ITS does not provide technical or licensing support for
Atlassian products outside of ITS-owned Confluence instances, and support
from Atlassian should continue as normal per your original contract
agreement. Similarly, billing will not be affected by this change and will
continue as normal per your original account setup.*

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have questions or
concerns, please submit a support ticket
