What is Alumni Mentor Network?
This series is going on its 4th year and is an effort conceptualized by a UCR alumnus, Ken Noller- a 36-year veteran teacher who is now retired from Gage Middle School. Ken saw a need to close the gap between topics and content that is provided within the structure of the year-long credential program, and the skills-set needed to thrive during the first couple years of teaching.

Mentor teachers from Inland Empire school districts, many of whom are UCR alumni, came together to volunteer their time to speak on these important topics with our candidates. Mentors include teachers, principals, and teachers on special assignments. Past topics have included: "How to collaborate with families; How to plan for a successful financial future as an educator; Lesson Planning, Time Management, and Stress Management/Self-care".

This workshop has grown to include former candidates from the past 2-4 years who are now paying it forward as mentors. The unique remote environment is also providing space for alumni from out of the Riverside area to join in.

We hope to see you there. If you have questions, please contact Deanna Wheeler in the GSOE Dean's Office at Deanna.wheeler at ucr.edu<mailto:Deanna.wheeler at ucr.edu>.

Thank you,
Deanna
