Dear SF faculty and students:
Next quarter I'll be teaching the upper-division philosophy class,
Philosophy of Mind (Phil 134) Tues-Thurs. SF graduate students are welcome
to enroll as a graduate level independent study.
Although most of the class will be the treatment of historical figures like
Descartes and 20th century materialist philosophers, the final four weeks
will look at LLMs, AI consciousness, animal consciousness, alien
consciousness, and mind uploading, and SFnal perspectives are welcome.
If at least three students are interested, I'll set up a weekly one-hour
graduate section at a time convenient for everyone. Otherwise, we can
arrange meetings ad hoc.
I've attached the syllabus, so you can see the topics and readings.
Best wishes,
Eric
