*"We at UCR would like to respectfully acknowledge and recognize our
**responsibility
to the original and current caretakers of this land, water, **and air: the
Cahuilla, Tongva, Luiseño, and Serrano peoples and all of **their ancestors
and descendants, past, present, and future. Today this **meeting place is
home to many Indigenous peoples from all over the world, **including UCR
faculty, students, and staff, and we are grateful to have the **opportunity
to live and work on these homelands."*

Subject: AI futures contest + how are you?
To: Sherryl Vint <sherrylv at ucr.edu>

Hi Sherryl! I’m writing to share an opportunity that I hope might be of
interest to your students. ASU is partnering with AI for Good, the UN’s
International Telecommunication Union, and other groups to present the AI
Futures contest <https://aiforgood.itu.int/AI-futures/#submit-application>,
which invites people to envision a moment from their future lives where AI
plays a key role. The contest first asks for a short storyboard of about 2
pages, sketching out an idea. Selected finalists will submit a 2-4 minute
short film, expanding on the storyboard. The winning film will be screened
during UN’s Summit for the Future
<https://www.un.org/en/common-agenda/summit-of-the-future> in New York City
in September 2024.

The application, and more details, are available here:
https://aiforgood.itu.int/AI-futures.

Best,

Joey
