[Sfts-students] zoom speaker this term

Dear all,

OK, the term has rushed by and I haven't managed to schedule a last zoom
event.

I've received suggestions from three students. I've put the list of
suggested names below.

At this point, I need two things from you. First, a general indicator if we
still want to try to have an online event this term, maybe in week 8 or 9?

Second, if so, your top two names. I'll collate responses and then invite
in order of preference.

Please response as soon as you can, since if we are going to do something,
time is running out this quarter.

For people who are local to the area, we can also look at the option of
bringing people to campus in Winter or Spring quarter. If we don't have to
play for flights, then we can usually manage that.

8. Nnedi Okorafor, Nigerian American sf writer

9. Emily St. John Mandel, speculative fiction writer

10. Rasha Abdulhadi, a political and arts organizer for many years, and
they’ve mostly written (speculative) poetry, with some essays and fiction
here and there. They’re also a fiction editor at Strange Horizons (

11. Aimee Bahng, sf scholar and author of *Migrant Futures*
