Hi folks,

I'm forwarding this opportunity to present/participate in FIU's 40th Annual International Conference on Narrative in April (Amitav Ghosh is the keynote speaker!).

Have a great weekend, and warm wishes,

Phoenix

We at UCR would like to respectfully acknowledge and recognize our responsibility to the original and current caretakers of this land, water, and air: the Cahuilla, Tongva, Luiseño, and Serrano peoples and all of their ancestors and descendants, past, present, and future. Today this meeting place is home to many Indigenous peoples from all over the world, including UCR faculty, students, and staff, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on these homelands.

Dear Sherryl and Phoenix,

It has been a while! I hope you're doing well despite the craziness of these times, when what we research and teach may be appropriately considered current affairs, rather than spec fic.....

I'm reaching out with some updates and opportunities for collaboration. This spring the Lab is hosting the 40th Annual International Conference on Narrative<http://scienceandfiction.fiu.edu/nc-25>, April 2 - 5. The theme is Storytelling and Climate Transformation, and Amitav Ghosh will keynote. We've combined the conference with the Third Annual Science & Fiction Confab: spec fic authors Pedro Cabiya, Premee Mohamed, and Brenda Peynado will be participating in both (we're also waiting to hear back from Jeff VanderMeer)!

  * Would SFCS and the Eaton Collection consider co-sponsoring<https://www.scienceandfiction.fiu.edu/nc-25-sponsorship> the conference in any capacity?
  * Do either of you have connections at institutions / orgs / corporations / universities / programs / presses with whom you could share the sponsorship page, or to whom you could introduce me so that I may make contact?
  * Check out the conference program<https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dco3c7979w9w1zaxf2jrs/Narrative-25-Program.pdf?rlkey=myv5vyirubvrl8wkdjyamhzq8&st=f861b89r&dl=0>, particularly p.3. We still have some breakout rooms available during sessions B, C, D, E, K, L, N, and O; would you like to use one or more of them for a cohort of your team and/or fellows and/or students to publicize your work and mission to the Narrative Conference's particular audience?
  * Another way to get involved is for you to sponsor the attendance of UCR faculty or students--either as observers or participants. Re the latter, we have some open slots in existing panels (in the Sheets version of the program<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16Itko1vChBMFIMTxuwUWt7MlQkK7Emb0h1SyLwvKqUk/edit?usp=sharing>, open slots appear as cells highlighted in yellow, e.g., column H, row 20); I'd be happy to include any of your people who'd like to present on a subject relevant to the open panels.

Please let me know your thoughts about this potpourri of ideas.

With best wishes,
Rhona
