[Sehefac] Fwd: Call for Presenters

Ellen Reese ellenr at ucr.edu
Tue Sep 8 09:00:00 PDT 2026

Dear SEHE faculty affiliates,

Just forwarding the call for presentations for the upcoming California
Sociological Association conference in Pomona in early November (see
below).

Although this conference is mostly targeted for sociologists, faculty &
students with a "sociological perspective" from all disciplines are
welcome. If interested, submissions (presentation title and abstract) are
due by 10/15 and sent directly to the session organizer listed in the call
below.

There are several sessions related to health and medicine, food & power,
among many other topics that might interest you and/or your students. This
is a very student friendly conference and both grad students and undergrads
are both welcome to make presentations along with faculty. Presenters need
to join CSA and register. Student observers who are not presenting pay only
$10 per day to attend. Spread the word!

All the best,
Ellen Reese
Professor of Society, Environment & Health Equity (sehe.ucr.edu)

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

We are calling for participants to present at the CSA annual conference.
Presentations are open to faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and
community professionals.

To submit your presentation, review the session list below and select the
topic that best aligns with your research. Then, email the designated
session organizer with your name, institutional affiliation, academic
status, presentation title, and a one-paragraph abstract.

Please use your institutional email for all CSA correspondence. Organizers
usually accept all relevant submissions. If yours is declined, feel free to
try a second organizer. You are welcome to deliver multiple presentations,
as long as each one represents a distinct paper or separate piece of
research.

Each session needs between 3 and 5 presenters. If a session fails to reach
the three-presenter minimum, we will move you to a similar session or find
another presenter to complete the group.

Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Individual sessions will close
as soon as they reach their maximum capacity of 5 presenters. Prompt
submission is highly encouraged to secure a spot in your preferred session.
All Submissions must be made by October 15.
