*My name is Kimberly Garcia-Galvez, and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the
department of Sociology at UC Merced. I am reaching out because I am
recruiting participants for my dissertation project and would greatly
appreciate it if you would consider participating and/or passing this email
along to the faculty in your department and networks within the University
of California (UC) or University of Texas (UT) systems.*

*The purpose of this qualitative case study will be to better understand
the macro- and micro-level shifts taking place in women of color and white
women faculty’s everyday experiences. This study will be a comparative
analysis of systems within different state contexts to better understand
shifts in their experiences following the demands placed on higher
education by the Trump administration. I seek to understand changes in
interactions, workloads, and sense of personal safety and liberty. *

Pseudonyms and coding will be used to maintain confidentiality!

*The details for participation in the study and eligibility criteria are as
follows:*
· *Who can participate? (All criteria must be met)*
o A tenure-track or tenured faculty member within the UC or UT systems
since * at least* 2022
o *And* a woman who self-identifies as Black, Latina, or White
o *And* in a Social Science or Humanities discipline
· *What would participating entail?*
o A 60-90min interview that will take place via Zoom
o Written consent to participation in the study
o Participation will be confidential, and data will not be directly tied
back to the participant's identity or specific campus (pseudonyms will be
used throughout the duration of the study)

*I acknowledge that women in academia’s time is incredibly valuable, and
participation in this study requires an investment that takes away from
many professional and personal responsibilities. I deeply appreciate the
willingness to contribute despite these demands. Although my desire would
be to compensate participants for their time and participation, funding for
studies of this nature are currently very limited. As such, participation
in this study will not be financially compensated.*

For questions or interests in the study, I can be reached via email at

Please feel free to pass this information on widely within your networks,
including faculty in other departments!

Warmly,
Kimberly
