Dear all,
I thought you might be interested to see this report (below) that the
Office of International Affairs sent to Deans. UC has legal counsel
available for international students, finally.
Take care,
Dana
-----
By now I am sure you are aware of the travel
<https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/06/restricting-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-united-states-from-foreign-terrorists-and-other-national-security-and-public-safety-threats/>
ban
for 12 countries. The countries are Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of
the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan,
and Yemen.

At UCR we have students from Myanmar (Burma), Iran, Yemen and Haiti.

38 incoming students for F25 affected by the travel ban:
2 from Myanmar (1 UG in BCOE, 1 Grad in Business)
36 from Iran (3 UG in BCOE and CNAS, 33 Grad in BCOE, CNAS and Business)

99 current student affected by the ban:
5 Myanmar (4 UG in BCOE and Business, 1 Grad in Business)
1 Haiti Grad in CNAS
1 Yemen Grad in BCOE
92 Iran (4 UG in BCOE and CNAS, 88 Grad in BCOE, CNAS, CHASS and Business)

While not much can be done for F25 incoming students, for our current
students we strongly advise not to travel.

As you can imagine, immigration lawyers nationwide are swamped with
clients. UCOP did retain counselors to assist our internationals.
Please note that this help is limited, case by case and may involve a fee.
The process is to contact our ISS <internationalstudents at ucr.edu> office
then we will refer them to the UC immigrant legal team, from where they can
be referred to the outside counsel.
