This is the second event on the workshop series "Linguistic Justice &
Health Equity", an event that gathers scholars from different areas to
discuss interdisciplinary approaches to tackle language and its relation
with health disparities. This time, Dr. Rachel Showstack will be visiting
us from Wichita State University to present about "A Multi-Pronged Approach
to Improving Healthcare Language Access for Latine and Indigenous
Communities in the U.S." She is a specialist in Spanish as a heritage
language, language ideologies, language and healthcare, and community-based
language education and leads the organization Alce su Voz that addresses
language barriers in healthcare and supports health equity for
Spanish-speaking Latinxs in Kansas.
