Dear Postdocs,

The *Journal of Life Sciences* (*JoLS*

is the first-ever open-access, peer-reviewed, international journal run
solely and successfully by postdocs. *JoLS* is a postdoc community
initiative born out of the recognition that postdocs would greatly benefit
from a dedicated platform to gain experience in writing, peer-reviewing,
editing, proofreading, and other aspects of the editorial and publication
process.

*JoLS* is currently expanding its editorial board to broaden its range of
expertise and is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Editors, Topic
Editors, and Executive Editors. This is a great opportunity for both senior
and junior postdocs to gain valuable editorial experience and promote
scholarship in their domain of research expertise. Editorial experience at
*JoLS* can also serve as a springboard, as has been the case for several
past and current postdoc editors, to joining editorial or reviewer boards
of other reputed professional journals.

Additional professional development and career exploration opportunities
are available at *JoLS* for qualified postdocs. As a grant writer on our
grants team, you can assist in the preparation and submission of
competitive grant proposals for funding to support the operation and growth
of *JoLS*. As a member of the *Mentor-Postdoc Spotlight *(*MPS*

series team, you can help identify and profile the accomplishments of
outstanding mentors and their postdoc trainees in *JoLS*. As a corresponding

- a subsidiary of *JoLS*, you will have the opportunity to interview and
showcase the accomplishments and life stories of the various stakeholders
in the scientific enterprise, including distinguished professors, young
investigators, graduate students, administrators, and industry leaders.

applications from accomplished postdocs for the *Postdoc of the Month*

We also invite you to submit your original research, reviews,
methodologies, commentaries, perspectives, progress articles, and research
highlights for publication in *JoLS*. *JoLS* does not charge a publication
fee or article processing charges, and all peer-reviewed publications
resulting from federally funded research will be deposited into PubMed
Central. Please send your submissions to EIC at JournalofLifeSciences.Org.

On a final note, to provide a dedicated national level platform for
postdocs to showcase their research accomplishments, *JoLS* will be
organizing an annual postdoc symposium starting 2023, in partnership with
the National Postdoctoral Association (*NPA*

). The 1st annual *JoLS* postdoc symposium is scheduled for April 2023, in
