Dear RDB Team,
Sharing the latest update from Van Williams below.  At a high level, progress is being made, but my best guess is that the efforts described below may take a couple of months to complete, and there won't be reason for our team to reconvene until after that.  To help everyone plan their calendar for this month, I'm asking Monique to go ahead and cancel our team's next two meetings (2/9 & 2/23).  We can then touch bases on status after that.  As always, please feel free to reach out if there's anything you'd like to discuss.

"Theresa Maldonado and I met. We’ve identified a temporary project manager.  We agreed we wanted to narrow down on the highest value uses cases and build funding support for system wide solution to those use cases. Theresa has a few faculty whose opinion she’d like to seek and wants to set up a meeting with them. I’ve also asked to invite Joe Bengfort to that session. Our goal is to use a project definition to identify sponsors and source of funds. The project definition would articulates the problem, mission, scope, sponsors, success criteria, stakeholders, SMEs, project team and cost estimates for implementation and operations.  We’ll continue to push this forward."

Happy new year!  I hope that you all had a good holiday break.  Sharing a quick update that the meeting with Van Williams, Joe Bengfort, RITC leadership and IT Sourcing Committee leadership did occur on 12/13.  While progress is being made, there's still more work to be done at this time.  Given the status, there isn't a reason for the project team to meet tomorrow (1/12), so that meeting will be cancelled.

Please go ahead and cancel tomorrow's Research Data Backup RFP meeting to remove from everyone's calendars.

Dear RDB Team,
I just received the message below from the RDB project's Executive Sponsors and wanted to share with you asap.  Based upon the below, the project is now on hold pending a recharter.

While this is disappointing news, I am hopeful that the work that we've done so far will remain useful once the project restarts.

A meeting to begin the recharter discussion is tentatively scheduled for 12/13.

This begs the question of what to do with our team's currently scheduled meetings.  One option is to cancel our 12/1 and 12/15 meetings (thinking the recharter won't be done before then), but keep our remaining meetings on calendar for now with the thought that we can pick them up again upon completion of the recharter.  If it would be helpful to keep our 12/1 meeting just so that the team has an opportunity to discuss, I'm open to that as well.
