Subject: Notice of Planned Data Center Maintenance on January 25 and 26, 2025
Dear Charles and Stan,
I sincerely apologize for this late notice regarding the upcoming maintenance this weekend; it was an oversight.
I am reaching out to inform you of a planned data center maintenance event, scheduled to take place from 6 AM on Saturday, January 25, until 6 PM on Sunday, January 26. During this time, all LAX-3 data center services will be powered down and unavailable to campus users and reliant systems, which may include some SOM data center services.
We understand that this planned outage may impact your ability to conduct business as usual, and we want to provide you with specific information about how to best prepare for this event.
Important considerations to ensure minimal disruption to weekend operations:
* Office of Research web applications: The Office of Research web applications will be unavailable during the maintenance.
* Potential Disruption to Single-Sign On (SSO) Services: There is a chance that SSO services will be affected by this maintenance event. ITS is taking every step possible to ensure that SSO services remain operational during the planned maintenance window. However, you should be advised that systems, such as StarRes and Famis360, may be inaccessible if SSO services are disrupted. We hope to share an update on anticipated SSO impact next week.
* Other Systems: Please notify ITS if you have concerns about systems or services not mentioned above.
Available support:
* Active Monitoring and Response: ITS staff will be actively monitoring progress and providing support during the maintenance period. In the event that any issues arise, our team is prepared to respond accordingly to bring systems online as quickly as possible.
* Point of Contact: If you experience any unexpected service disruptions or disruptions extending beyond the planned maintenance window, please do not hesitate to contact Application Operations Manager Joe Parent (joe.parent at ucr.edu<mailto:joe.parent at ucr.edu>) or Associate Director of Campus Integrated Applications Adelaida Diaz (adelaida.diaz at ucr.edu<mailto:adelaida.diaz at ucr.edu>).
We understand that this outage may cause inconvenience. Unfortunately, due to the critical nature of the maintenance and the strategic coordination needed to support it, the scheduled timeframe for this event cannot be changed. We appreciate your understanding and are committed to ensuring that this required maintenance is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
As always, you may refer to techalerts.ucr.edu<http://techalerts.ucr.edu> for the status of this maintenance event.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Best regards,
Joe Parent
