*University-Caltrans Contracts sessions*

It’s almost time for the Budget Training for University-Caltrans
Contracts. *This
is a four-part series—not the same training repeated four times.  *Please
mark all four dates on your calendar and use the same Zoom link to join
each session. See details below.

This four-part training series was jointly developed by Caltrans, the
University of California (UC) Office of the President’s Research Policy
Analysis and Coordination (RPAC) unit, and the California State University
(CSU) Office of the Chancellor. It was designed to provide UC, CSU, and
Caltrans stakeholders with guidance on developing contract budgets that
comply with the California Model Agreement (CMA). Each session will build
upon the last, walking attendees through the applicable CMA budget
exhibits, clarifying common points of confusion, and offering strategies to
streamline the process, reduce delays, and minimize the need for budget
revisions.

We encourage you to share this invitation with UC colleagues involved in
developing Caltrans proposals and budgets, such as principal investigators,
Sponsored Projects/Contract & Grant Officers, and departmental and
financial administrators.

pre-recorded presentation entitled, "*RFP Review and Best Practices*."

Request for Proposals (RFP) can be intimidating. They don’t all look the
same and they may not fit the mold of traditional submissions.  It walks,
talks and smells like a grant, but is it a grant or even a contract?  Oh
my, it has language in there I have not seen before!  It is asking me to
sign off on terms at the proposal phase.  Can I do that?  It does not
matter what level of experience you have; RFPs can be overwhelming.  As we
pivot onto more diversified funding, this session will be beneficial to
understand how to help our faculty interpret and maneuver around the RFP.
We would like to help you become comfortable with reading, interpreting,
and translating RFPs.
