Research.Gov User Role Review And Validation In Progress

To strengthen the security of Research.gov, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has requested all organizations to review and validate that its user: (i) accounts are still active and (ii) roles are still valid in Research.gov (i.e., NSF's proposal and award management system).

Earlier this month, UCR's Sponsored Programs Office conducted its review of over 1800 user accounts and is now in the process of completing the validation process.

  * In UCR's review of its Research.gov users, several hundred accounts were found to be associated with individuals who have since separated from UCR. Those user accounts have now been, or are in the process of being, disassociated with UCR.

  * UCR's review also revealed several hundred employees who previously had an active NSF Account # for use in NSF's retired Fastlane system, however, such individuals never re-activated their account when NSF FastLane was replaced by Research.gov several years ago. UCR has initiated an automated email, sent through Research.gov, inviting such individuals to activate their NSF Account in Research.gov. Please note that those accounts which are not activated by month's end will be disassociated from UCR affiliation in Research.gov. (Note: Such individuals can later seek to re-associate their NSF Account # with UCR when then need may arise.) If you do not receive an invitation, then there is no action necessary on your part, as your account remains active and valid.

Please reach out to Cynthia Johnson at cwells at ucr.edu<mailto:cwells at ucr.edu> if you have any questions regarding this process.
