The USDA NIFA's NextGen RFA is open now.  This RFA will provide up to $250 million in funding for scholarship support, experiential learning opportunities, and outreach and engagement programs to build awareness of agriculture-related career opportunities.

The primary goal of NextGen is to build and sustain the next generation of the food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences (FANH) workforce, including the future USDA workforce, primarily through providing student scholarship support, meaningful paid internships, fellowships, and job opportunity matching, and also facilitating opportunities to learn the processes and pathways leading to training and employment in the federal sector.

Eligible applicants include the following:

  *   Hispanic-Serving Institutions
  *   Hispanic-Serving Agricultural Colleges and Universities
  *   Insular area institutions of higher education located in the U.S. territories
  *   Alaska Native Serving Institutions and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions
  *   Tribal Colleges
  *   1890


  *   Project Types:

  *   Student Scholarship Projects
  *   Experiential Learning Projects
  *   Outreach and Engagement Projects
Note that there is a proposal limit of three proposals per eligible institution as the lead institution. Funding is limited to $20,000,000 maximum per award.
