The Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) has been modified to accommodate the Employee-initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) Program.  The functional guideline on how to process ERIT on PPS is available at: http://accounting.ucr.edu/docs/payroll/erit.pdf. Re:       Employee-initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) Program

The ERIT program allows career staff employees, except Senior Managers, to voluntarily reduce their percentage of appointment and pay in order for the University to achieve salary savings. ERIT is similar to the expired Staff and Academic Reduction in Time Program (START) in that employees will receive certain specified advantages, such as vacation and sick leave based on the rate at which they accrued these leaves prior to participating in the ERIT Program. However, UCRP service credit will accrue based on the reduced percentage of appointment. The program is effective July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.

Represented employees' participation in ERIT is subject to collective bargaining.

Instructions on entering ERIT appointments in PPS will be provided to departments and posted on the UCR Payroll website<http://accounting.ucr.edu/payroll/> within the next two weeks.
