Here are the meeting notes for the PPS Users Group meeting, January 13, 2010.

 

·         Furlough and Workers Comp

Nini Furst from Labor Relations presented a slide pertaining to the effect of Furlough/Salary Reduction to injured employees who are off work on Workers' Compensation.  She indicated that the Workers' Compensation supplement is not subject to Furlough/ Salary Reduction.  The intent is that the total of the WC-related benefits the employees receive should be equivalent to what they would have received had the Furlough/Salary Reduction plan not been in place.  The same provision also applies to START participants.

 

·         CUE Agreement Regarding the Effects of Temporary Layoff 

Cynthia Seneriz discussed the CUE Agreement and has provided a write up including questions which is attached.

 

·         Alternate Plans for cost Savings Reduction (RX and TX Units)

Gabe Nwandu will be updating the instructions for recording the RX and TX savings reduction on the Payroll website for reference by PPS transactors.

 

·         FEP update

Karen Hruby informed the group that 128 requests for FEP were approved.   Most were for full year.  She provided statistics by ORG unit as follows:

§  2          AGSM             1.6%

§  43        ENGR            34.0%

§    6        CHASS           4.7%

§  72        CNAS             56.7%

§    4        GSOE               3.0%

 

She also indicated that the deadline for fiscal year FEP was Wednesday, January 13th.

 

·         Dean's out of SMG

Karen also notified the group that effective January 1, 2010, the Dean title series was moved out of the SMG group.  As a result, the these Dean's will be eligible to participate in the FEP beginning with the winter quarter.   The deadline for them has been extended to January 22, 2010.   They will no longer be bound by the SMG 10 day limitation on the use of accrued furlough days but will be able to use all their accrued furlough days. 

 

·         W-2's

Gabe reported that the 2009 W-2's are well on the way to being finalized.  Employees who opted in to receive their W2's electronically will be able to do so on January 14th or 15th.   The W2's for active employees who did not sign up for electronic W'2's, will be distributed to the departments the last week of January.   At that time, the W2's for inactive, separated, leave with pay and leave without pay employees will be mailed through the US mail to the employee's home address on PPS.   These employees will be able to get an electronic W2 online around mid February.  As with every year, Gabe encouraged departments to tell their employees about the advantages of opting for an online W2.
