Ref: October 1, 2008 contractually required salary
increases for ASE and Unit 18 Employees
The University of California has issued new academic salary scales,
effective October 1, 2008, which reflect salary increases for the
following academics:
Academic Employees covered by the Non-Senate Instructional Unit (Unit
18):
Pursuant to Article 21 of the MOU, the new salary scales reflect the
contractually prescribed minimum 3.0% increase, effective October 1,
2008.
Please note that the salary scales reflect a new range maximum for
academic year appointees, effective July 1, 2008, as per article 21, C.,
of the MOU.
Until the Unit 18 salary tables are available on the UCOP site, you can
access them on APO's web site at:

Academic Student Employees (ASE):
Pursuant to Article 29 of the contract between the University of
California and the United Auto Workers (UAW), new salary scales reflect
the contractually prescribed minimum 1.5% increase effective October 1,
2008, for Academic Student Employees covered by the contract. The
following title codes at UCR are affected:
2310, 2311 Teaching Assistant (GSHIP and non-GSHIP)
1506, 1507 Associate In, (GSHIP and non-GSHIP)
2850, 2851 Readers. (GSHIP and non-GSHIP)
2861 Tutors (campus)
Until the ASE and campus tutor salary tables are available on the UCOP
site, you can access them on APO's web site at:

The campus Tutor rates are always available on the APO web site under

PPS will be updated centrally with the salary adjustments, with the new
rates showing in the system on October 24, 2008. Please review the new
rates and if changes are needed the departments will need to do them
manually by 10/27/2008.
