Labor Relations & Workers' Compensation office, joined by Benefits,
Disability Management, Payroll, and Environmental Health & Safety, are
offering a couple of workers' compensation training classes. These classes
will be offered regularly every quarter; the first classes will be next
week, October 26 and 28, 2005.
Overview of Workers' Compensation System and Work-Incurred Injury Reporting
Procedure
This newly reformatted class will provide an overview of the Workers'
Compensation system with a focus on the department's role and
responsibilities in addressing workers' compensation claims. Subjects will
include: the Workers' Compensation system in general, Department's and
Supervisor's Role and Responsibilities, what constitutes a Workers'
Compensation claim, injury reporting and Workers' Compensation process,
Workers' Compensation benefits, mandatory return-to-work program as well as
injury prevention.
Payroll Aspects of Workers' Compensation
This class will provide a comprehensive review of the Workers' Compensation
payroll processing from start to finish.
Subjects will include: 3-day waiting period, University supplemental
benefits, extended sick leave, leave accruals while off work, re-crediting
sick/vacation leave used, payroll reporting and adjustments, benefits
continuation, processing payroll for full-time employees returning to work
with part-time restrictions and actual case studies.
