[Poscgrad] Call for Applications: Spring 2026 Gabbert Research Awards

Dear Graduate Students,

Applications are now open for our *Spring 2026 Gabbert Research Awards*.
Grants of *up to $2,000* are available. *Only students who have passed
their comprehensive exams are eligible for these funds.* Preference will be
given to those who are ABD (all but dissertation). The deadline to apply is
Monday, *April 13*, 2026 at *9:00 AM*. Please email your application
materials to both <lorenaj at ucr.edu> and <mbrookes at ucr.edu>. The Graduate
Committee will select the award winners and notify all applicants of their
result by mid-spring.

*TO APPLY:* Please submit *a* *1-to-2-page proposal *describing your
project, how the funds
would be beneficial to your research, and how the funds would be spent.
Examples of eligible expenses include a research stipend, costs related to
relevant training that cannot be obtained at UCR, research-related costs
such as: archive visits, fieldwork travel, hiring research assistance,
mailing, the purchase of data, texts, software, or other materials or
equipment, or other reasonable research expenses. In addition to the
1-to-2-page proposal, applicants must also submit *a* *budget sheet* and *a*
*timeline* for the expenditure of the funds. Funds must be expended and
reported per university guidelines. Specifically, Gabbert Award recipients
are required to submit a one-page summary describing the use of their
funding within 30 days of the completion date listed on their timeline.
Failure to do so will result in the student becoming ineligible for
discretionary department funding (e.g., conference travel). Recommendation
letters are not required for this application. *Please combine all
