Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to share the lineup for our *Fall 2025 Speaker Series* (see
attached flyer). Please mark your calendars and plan to attend:

   -

*Doug Kriner* (Cornell University) – *“Risk Versus Reward: The Electoral
   Politics of COVID-19”*
   *October 6, 2025 - 12:10 - 1:30 PM*
   -

*Margaret Roberts* (UC San Diego) – "Propaganda or Parity? TikTok's
   Algorithm and Pro-China Messaging"
   *November 3, 2025 **- 12:10 - 1:30 PM*
   -

*Lisa Beard* (Western Washington University) – *Title TBD*
   *November 17, 2025 **- 12:10 - 1:30 PM*

As always, the success of our series depends on wide participation. Even
when a speaker’s work lies outside of our individual subfields, a strong
collective presence enriches our intellectual community, fosters
cross-field dialogue, and strengthens our department’s reputation.

We will soon circulate the itinerary for *Doug Kriner’s visit*, including
opportunities for faculty to sign up for meetings and dinner; and for
graduate students to sign up for lunch with the speakers. In addition, I
will be sharing in a few days the *full schedule of speakers for the entire
academic year*, so please be on the lookout for that.

I encourage you to attend and engage with our visitors, and I look forward
to seeing many of you at these events.

Best,

Miguel
