Subject: FW: IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM ITS: Campus systems unavailable 1/25/25-1/26/25
Hello CHASS Chairs, Vice Chairs, FAOs and Managers,
Please see the important message regarding campus system outages for Data Center Maintenance on Saturday, January 25 through Sunday, January 26.
Please share with your faculty and staff.
Reference: LAX-3 Planned Data Center Maintenance
• Data Center Maintenance Downtime: 6 AM on Saturday, January 25, until 6 PM on Sunday, January 26.
• Due to the nature of the maintenance, which involves the physical moving of equipment, all LAX-3 data center services will be powered down and unavailable to campus users and reliant systems–which may include SOM data center services–during this period.
• ITS has verified that single-sign on (SSO) services will be available, although potentially degraded, during the maintenance window. As a result, campus users should expect the login process to take a little longer than normal. While many ITS-managed services will be unavailable during the planned maintenance window, ITS does not anticipate service disruptions outside of this timeframe. In the event you experience a service disruption outside of the scheduled maintenance window, please report it through ServiceNow<https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal?id=ucr_home_new&logged_in=false>.
• Due to the critical nature of the required maintenance and the strategic coordination needed to support it, the scheduled time frame for this event cannot be changed. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate exceptions or requests to reschedule.
ITS appreciates your understanding and cooperation. Please refer to https://techalerts.ucr.edu/ for the status of this maintenance event.

Hello everyone,
I was informed by ITS this afternoon that all campus systems will be unavailable from 1/25 at 12am to 1/26 at 1159pm. This is due to migrating key data center infrastructure and equipment from the Irvine data center facility to Riverside data center facility. If you recall there was a similar move from 2020 to 2022 referred to as Project Genesis.
Per our portfolio manager, Disha, this is a physical move which means no development or code refactoring requirement. The most simple description is that services will be turned off on 1/25 (12am) and turned on by 1/26 (1159pm).
The key takeaways are:
1. Campus systems will not be available during the estimated downtime:1/25 at 12am to 1/26 at 1159pm.
2. Campus systems will be restored by 1/27.
3. For details and updates, please check https://techalerts.ucr.edu/.
Disha is checking on how and if Single Sign On (SSO) will be affected - this is for systems such as UCRecruit and UCOATS.
Please plan accordingly and share the information with your faculty and staff.
I will provide additional information and updates as they become available.
Best regards,
-Sara
