Dear all,

I am circulating a flyer for a campus event that will take place on
Thursday, Jan. 23 at 4 PM in HMNSS 1500 and might be of interest to some
of you. The talk is entitled "Universities and Political Violence: Could
They Become a Focal Point Again?". The speaker (Robert Pape) is Professor
of Political Science at the University of Chicago. More details in the
flyer attached.

*Title:* Universities and Political Violence: Could They Become a Focal
Point Again?

*Description:* Last year, universities across the country became focal
points for unrest and even political violence. How did this surprising set
of events occur? Are norms against violence generally eroding in America?
As the new Trump administration proceeds with mass deportations of
undocumented migrants, could universities again become focal points for
political violence -- this time from the state? Professor Pape will discuss
these issues based on his recent research on the rise in American political
violence.

*Date:* January 23, 2025
*Time:* 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
*Location:* HMNSS 1500

Please mark your calendars and consider attending.

Thanks!

Best,

Miguel
