[Poscgrad] Update on Department Staffing

Dear Professors and Students,

Welcome back! Can you believe how hot it is for Fall?

We have some exciting updates to share! Lori Jaramillo, our Graduate Student Advisor, has returned from her leave and is working remotely through mid-December. Please join me in warmly welcoming her back to the Political Science Department! Gary will continue to assist while Lori gets reacclimated, so let’s also extend a huge thank you to him for all his invaluable support.

We’re thrilled to announce that Adam Hobbs is our department GSR for the year. Adam has been working on some fantastic projects, and we’re excited to have his expertise with us for the entire academic year. If you connected with him over the summer, you know we’re in good hands!

A special welcome to our new Chair, Kevin Esterling! One of Kevin’s goal’s is to make Political Science the best place for staff to work, and I can already say we truly appreciate all the positive changes he’s initiated. We’re looking forward to what’s ahead under his leadership!

Recruitment Updates:

  *   Financial Analyst II – We’re holding second-round interviews this week, and I hope to finalize our selection soon, aiming for a 10/21/24 start date.
  *   Administrative Assistant III – Interviews will take place from 10/7-10/11, with a potential start date of 11/12/24. In addition to Mark Tankersley

We’re also excited to welcome Adriana Gomez-Hernandez, our new student assistant! Adriana brings skills in graphic design and infographics, so feel free to send any design requests her way at studentassistant at ucr.edu<mailto:studentassistant at ucr.edu>. She’s already updated the monitor outside the department office, and it looks great! 😊

Finally, Marly and Russell are back from summer and are ready to dive in and assist wherever needed.
