[Poscgrad] Conference deadlines

Just a few points of clarification, particularly for those who will be
applying for their first conference:

1) Funding through GSA is not guaranteed. There are many reasons that you
may get denied funding. *For example, you need to submit your application
no later than the first day of the month prior to the conference. If you
submit it even a minute late you will get denied, no exceptions.* If you
plan on applying for the GSA Travel Grant to help fund your conference
travel, you need to read through their website (HERE
<https://gsa.ucr.edu/ctg>) to make sure you understand all the terms and
conditions. *If you need help with the application process, I am more than
happy to help as someone who has been denied on multiple occasions.*

2) You must apply for GSA funds as a condition of DGS approval for
departmental travels funds. You also need to reach out to CHASS travel (
chasstravel at ucr.edu) at least one month before your conference to set up a
pre-trip form on Concur.

3) Lastly, please be advised that all funding for conference travel is done
via reimbursements. You make your own travel plans (e.g., hotel, flight,
etc.) and submit receipts within one week of returning from the
conference. *Also
note that the cost of attending a conference often exceeds the available
funds for reimbursement. *

If you have questions about any of this, please let me know.

Adam
