[Poscgrad] Union Update From Greg

Hi All,

On top of my previous email here is an update about the upcoming union
action from Greg:

"As many of you know there is an ongoing and escalating stand up strike
being conducted by UAW 4811 across many UC campuses
<https://www.uaw4811.org/>. Three campuses are joining the stand up this
week, and while UCR has not yet been called there has been some consensus
to take some actions. These decisions were made at last week's Monthly
Membership Meeting of which our department was one of the most well
attended. (Thanks to all of those that were able to make it.)

The first action is a joint-action coordinated with SJP. They will have
their own rally at Hinderaker, <https://www.instagram.com/p/C7unnGvSiTW/> and
they have asked us to join in the form of a practice picket. The practice
picket is scheduled for Tuesday at 10AM (TODAY).

The second action is circulating a petition to gauge the appetite of
colleagues who are ready, willing, and able to stand-up to strike if the
campus is called upon. Essentially, it is a both *pledge to the union that
if the executive board calls us to stand up you will both honor a picket
line, and withhold your own labor; and it is also a request to the
executive board to consider calling UCR's campus next on the Stank Up
Strike.* (Again, don't quote me, but I believe the official ask is to
withhold final grades given where we are in the timing of the quarter.)

The petition will launch at the practice picket tomorrow and the union will
likely follow-up wiht an email to all of us.
