Hi Graduate Students,

The Fall start is just a few weeks away and we are busy preparing for your return to campus. Below are some important pieces of information to help you with a successful start.

Enrollment: All students must be enrolled in full-time status, in at least 12 units. This applies to ALL students regardless of your year or status - but excludes students who have filed for a Leave of Absence.

If you are NOT enrolled in 12 units before September 28th, then your applicable refund and/or tuition and fee remissions will be delayed.

If you are unable to self-enroll due to an instructor consent block or cannot increase your course units, please submit a POSC Graduate Enrollment Form, see link here<https://forms.gle/MJyMpoZikzHNHwPn9> (form links will always be listed below my email signature). Enrollment requests will not be accepted via email. Using the POSC Enrolment form allows me to collect the necessary information to process your enrollment request timely and accurately.

Fall 23 Financial Aid will begin disbursing to student accounts on Thursday, 9/28/23; for students enrolled in at least 12 units. All stipends are first applied to any pending and/or outstanding charges at the time of disbursement, the remaining balance will be disbursed to you.

For students enrolled in Direct Deposit, once you see the aid disbursement on your student account, you can expect the deposit to be routed to your bank in 3-5 business days. Refund checks can be expected within 7-10 business days. Refund checks are only generated and mailed out on Tuesdays. Checks will be mailed to your address on file, be sure that your address is up to date in your student account to avoid delay in your refund.

If you have not already done so, I highly encourage you to sign up for Direct Deposit. This is the fastest way for you to receive your financial aid. You can apply for Direct Deposit through your R'Web student account.

Accessing R’Web Go to the UCR R'Web, Login with your UCR credentials. Your access is granted through your username: UCR Net ID, and password: you created during R’Web set-up. Click on Student Account, click on Student Account Online, then scroll down to locate the icon to Sign up for Direct Deposit Refunds. Be sure to have your bank routing and checking account information (do not enter your debit card number).

TA Office Space: I will be working on TA office assignments soon. Assignments are made in order of seniority. You can expect your assignment at the beginning of the Fall quarter. Once you receive your assignment, please stop by my office in Watkins Hall 2122C to pick up a key as needed.

Request a Change to your Degree Audit: Your Degree Audit is used to academically clear you for degree completion, be sure to check your Degree Audit every quarter for errors. If you need to make a change, please use the new Degree Audit form to make that request, see the link here<https://forms.gle/Eza1WJRBXbMt2dR29>.

International Students: You are required to complete a Glacier form before you can receive your funds/aid. Students that were required to submit the Glacier form were sent an email in the beginning of September. Please look in your UCR email for that information. This is a one-time submission request and completing this form early will prevent delays to your refund. If you have questions about your Glacier submission, please contact Elena Valdez at elena.valdez at ucr.edu<mailto:elena.valdez at ucr.edu>.

Student Mailboxes: You may find that your mailbox location has moved. We have re-organized the mailboxes in order to accommodate our new faculty and students. There are new mail slots now located on the table, below the wall mail unit.

Finally, thank you for your patience and grace as I learned the ins and out of my new position, I am excited to start this new academic year with a better footing. My in-office days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and I work remote on Wednesday and Friday. I am grateful to walk alongside you on your academic journey, together we will make this a great year!

Kind regards,

Lori Jaramillo
