The Office of Research has updated the composite fringe benefit rate
information on its website. Composite rates are used for estimating fringe
benefit costs in extramural proposal budgets when it is not known who will
fill a particular position on the proposed project (i.e., "to be named"
position). The revised information includes:
. Revised rates for non-ladder rank academics and career staff based
on salary bands.
. Revised rates for post doctoral researchers.
. Information regarding the restoration of the employer contribution
to the UC Retirement Plan.
In addition, the Office of Research has added information regarding how to
calculate an employee's actual fringe benefit rate. These instructions are
available at
http://or.ucr.edu/SP/Lifecycle/Prepare/CalculateFringeBenefitRates.aspx.
This page appears under the Proposal Preparation and Submission section of
the Sponsored Programs Webpage under the subheading Preparing Proposals
Budgets. A link to this page can also be found on the Benefits tab of the
Proposal <http://or.ucr.edu/SP/Lifecycle/Prepare/index.aspx?T=2>
Preparation/Submission Quick Reference.
