Dear UCR contract-and-grant folks: I mentioned a few weeks ago that the
Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) will have an
outstanding speaker on writing at our April meeting, one week from tonight
(6 p.m. April 17). This meeting will be a webcast, and we have agreed to
move the Inland Empire venue from Redlands to Riverside this month. CE-CERT
has graciously agreed to be the host site -- this provides easy access to
UCR people, and it provides free parking to APMP people who will be coming
from other areas.

Some basic information is below, and more is on our web site
(www.socal-apmp.org). Please let me know if you would like to attend --
RSVPs are required for our record-keeping purposes, and so we know how much
pizza to buy.

One fun aspect of the meeting is that Tom will take text sent in by meeting
participants and fix it up while we watch. If you have some particularly
unfortunate text that would be a good example, you can send it in to him,
and he might use it. See our web site for how to send a passage in.

Thanks.

Subject: free meeting April 17 on proposal writing

Dear COE faculty and staff: You and your students are invited to a
presentation next Thursday evening, April 17, by Dr. Tom Sant, a leading
consultant on proposal writing. The talk is presented by the Association of
Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Southern California chapter, and
CE-CERT has agreed to provide a venue for the meeting, which begins at 6
p.m.

Tom is a Fellow of APMP and author of books including The Language of
Success and Persuasive Business Proposals. Many of you have heard me talk
about him before. He is knowledgeable and entertaining, and I am confident
that you (and I) will come away from the meeting with some tips about how to
be a better proposal writer.

The meeting is free to APMP members (me) and guests (you), but RSVPs are
required. Please send an e-mail to me, with cc to ron.scheidecker at ngc.com,
if you plan to attend.

For more information on Tom and next week's talk, please see
www.socal-apmp.org and click on the Calendar page.

APMP extends its thanks to CE-CERT for agreeing to provide a venue for the
region. We chose CE-CERT rather than an on-campus site because it has free
parking.

Thanks.
