MHCP Recruiting Peer Mentors
Do you want to help your fellow students along the path to a career 
in the health professions?
Deadline to Apply: 5 p.m., May 7, 2008

REMINDER:  Current Peer Mentors must re-apply for next year

         The deadline is fast approaching to apply to be a Peer 
Mentor for the Medical and Health Careers Program (MHCP) for the 
2008-09 academic year.  This is an excellent service opportunity as 
well as a good way for pre-health students to develop important 
skills.  MHCP's 20-25 Peer Mentors help new students in many ways, 
including working with individual mentees.  Peer Mentors assist the 
MHCP Office with campus events and activities and will participate in 
mentor training.

         Peer Mentors will also be the pilot group for next year's 
Health Professions Advisory Committee letters. This is a valuable 
addition to an application to a health professions program, primarily 
medical school, and serves to provide information beyond letters of 
recommendation in support of an application.  This is just one more 
benefit to being an MHCP Peer Mentor.

         Minimum requirements:
         Successful completion of at least 20 units of health 
professions pre-requisite courses
         Sophomore standing by Fall 2008
         3.25 gpa
         Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
