[LOGOS] ICWSM in SoCal

Hi Everyone,

As some of you may recall, a couple of months ago, some of us discussed the
possibility of putting together a proposal to host ICWSM in Riverside/SoCal
for 2026.

Having just attended this year's edition (in Buffalo), I think it will be a
tough sell. Even though the conference was in (remote) Buffalo, 350 people
were registered (including those who only did so for tutorials/workshops).
The community is growing at an unprecedented scale, so I wouldn't be
surprised if we were to expect 500+ people in 2026.

This naturally rules out anything on campus and in places we have
experience with, like the Mission Inn. Also, considering that ICWSM has N
parallel workshops on Mondays, that would leave us with having to go with a
large hotel. Likely, this is going to be expensive and nonideal :)

Having said that, if anyone wants to throw their hat in the ring, please
let me know, and I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can (but
wouldn't have the energy to *lead* the effort), liaise with the ICWSM
Steering Committee, etc. They expect informal proposals over the next few
weeks.

Cheers,
