HPCC Maintenance Shutdown Notice

When

   - Begins Monday, July 28, 8am
   - Ends Tuesday, July 29, afternoon

Description

UCR HPCC will be performing a maintenance shutdown at the above specified
time. A Slurm reservation has been put in place to prevent jobs from
running during the scheduled maintenance. This shutdown is necessary for
routine software updates, and certain configuration changes that can not be
done while the cluster is active.

Benefits

Regular cluster maintenance keeps our systems performant, secure, and
reliable.

Schedule: 8AM July 28 to afternoon of July 29

Slurm will hold any jobs that would otherwise start or extend into the
above specified time. Users will also be logged off so maintenance tasks
can be done. Services will be restored gradually, with full operations
expected by the end of the maintenance window.

Services Impacted

Most services hosted by HPCC will be down during this period. This
includes, but is not limited to:

   - Cluster access (SSH, Slurm, data access), including HTTP access to
   user data.
   - All services provided by OnDemand: RStudio/Posit, MATLAB, Jupyter, etc.

Normal email support (support at hpcc.ucr.edu) will continue to operate.
However, HPCC's Slack workspace (https://ucr-hpcc.slack.com) will be the
main means of group communication with users during maintenance events. We
strongly encourage users to become familiar with our Slack workspace ahead
of the shutdown.

We will provide more information and additional reminders as the shutdown
gets closer.
