Dear All,
With the start of the new quarter, I would like to remind everyone of the
following expectations. *Please review them carefully and let me know if
you have concerns about any of these points. If I do not hear from you, I
will assume you agree to comply. Failure to meet these expectations more
than twice in a quarter will be taken as a signal that you wish to withdraw
from the research group.*
1. Check your email regularly on workdays and respond to emails
promptly. This includes my emails, group emails, and any relevant school
emails. As a rule of thumb, reply to emails within the same business day
unless otherwise specified in the emails. In case the email content
takes a longer time to address, acknowledge receipt of the email on the
same day.
2. If we agree on due dates for any research items, meet these deadlines
or inform me in advance if there are unexpected delays.
3. If you plan to take days off on workdays, seek approval in advance
rather than notifying afterward.
4. Submit your timesheets in the university system on time, if
applicable.
5. Be punctual for individual or group meetings.
6. [Graduate students only] Read research papers and update the shared
Google Doc as you progress. The minimum expectation is to read and
summarize one paper per week on average, with adjustments based on the
stage of your project (e.g., periods of intense reading may be required at
certain times).
Thank you for your attention to these matters. Let’s continue working
together to maintain a productive and respectful environment within the
group.
Best,
Vivian
