[IIGB_All] Call for presentations for Symposium honoring Joanne Chory - November 6-7, 2025

Dear Colleagues,



November 12, 2024, marked a day of profound remembrance, the day we bid farewell to the physical presence of Joanne Chory. Yet, her enduring legacy, both personal and scientific, remains an everlasting source of inspiration and guidance. In honor of Joanne’s extraordinary contributions and the profound impact she has had on so many of us, we invite you to join us in celebrating her life and legacy at a two-day symposium at UC Riverside on November 6-7, 2025, commemorating the anniversary of her passing.



This symposium will provide a meaningful opportunity for all who have been touched by Joanne’s grace, generosity, wisdom, and scientific brilliance to come together, honor her remarkable achievements, and share their own work inspired by her enduring legacy.



We warmly welcome those who wish to contribute to this celebration by presenting their personal memories of Joanne and their research in 25-minute sessions. If you are interested in participating, please send us your name, affiliation, and the title of your presentation to dseymour at ucr.edu by February 15. If you need more time to decide, please inform us no later than March 15th. Additionally, please note that out-of-town attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel and hotel accommodations in Riverside.



The symposium venue will provide breakfast, refreshments, and lunch for all participants throughout both days. We look forward to gathering as a community to honor Joanne’s memory and the profound impact she has left on the scientific world and our lives.
