What is MEI?

The nine-month "Making Excellence Inclusive (MEI) Diversity Certificate
Program" will guide participants from our own staff and faculty through a
series of learning activities designed to emphasize the commitment to
diversity and inclusion as a core value in an increasingly diverse campus
environment. The program is developed around the belief that individuals
learn most effectively when they discover, understand, and apply their new
knowledge to real world situations they face in the university environment.

   -

   Workshops - led by leading authorities representing a broad
   cross-section of diversity topics
   -

   Discussion Sessions - participants share their thought on the topic areas
   -

   Capstone Projects - create a practical application of the concepts;
   develop an innovative project that will expand knowledge on a selected
   diversity topic
   -

   Project Presentation - demonstration of participants' understanding of
   the "Making Excellence Inclusive Diversity Certificate Program"

Eligibility

Eligible staff and faculty must have completed their probationary period
and have an endorsement for participation from their department/supervisor.
This program is not designed for undergraduate students. Please visit our

Commitment & Absences:

The expectation for the MEI Program is to attend all sessions. There will
be only one excused absence allotted during the 9-month course to earn the
certification.

Time/Place:

This year’s cohort will have a combination of both in person and online
(zoom) meeting times. Food will be provided for times that are scheduled in
person. *Session times meet every third Thursday of each month from October
2025 – June 2026

Session 1: Thursday, October 16, 2025, 1pm - 5pm (In person)
Session 2: Thursday, November 20, 2025, 1pm - 5pm
Session 3: Thursday, December 18, 2025, 1pm - 5pm
Session 4: Thursday, January 15, 2026, 1pm - 5pm (In person)
Session 5: Thursday, February, 19, 2026, 1pm - 5pm
Session 6: Thursday, March 19, 2026, 1pm - 5pm
Session 7: Thursday, April 16, 2026, 1pm - 5pm
Session 8: Thursday, May 21, 2026, 1pm - 5pm
Session 9: Thursday, June 18, 2026, 1pm - 5pm (In person)
