*1. Volunteers Needed for Space Science and Engineering Day*

Volunteers are needed to help run activities for the upcoming "*Bourns Space
Science and Engineering Day*" outreach event on Saturday, April 12, 2008from
12:30-5pm at UC Riverside. You do not have to be an engineering student to
volunteer.

High school students can also volunteer. They will be paired up with a UCR
student to assist participants with one of our activity stations.

This event is hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at UCR in
collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/NASA in Pasadena.

The day is filled with hands on space science and engineering activities for
K-12 students. Participants will get to look through the telescopes of the
Riverside Astronomical Society, create their own constellation in a
planetarium, and get "run over" by a real Mars Rover prototype from JPL.
Later in the afternoon participants will have a chance to meet astronaut,
Mission Specialist Alvin Drew in addition to NASA Planetary Scientist Dr.
Jennifer Heldmann.

The event is sold out but we are in need of volunteers. Shift hours can also
be flexible.

Please visit our event website at
http://www.engr.ucr.edu/~ssed/<http://www.engr.ucr.edu/%7Essed/>for
more information about our event and for volunteer registration.

Questions can also be sent via e-mail to ssed at engr.ucr.edu
