[Gradstudents] AERA Membership Discount & Upcoming Conference

Dear SOE Graduate Students:

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) is a national research society that "strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good." This society is open to all fields of education, so it is an ideal professional organization for all SOE graduate students.

Each year, several faculty and graduate students attend the annual conference<https://www.aera.net/Events-Meetings/Annual-Meeting/2024-Annual-Meeting> to share their work and learn from their peers. This year, the conference will be held in-person April 11-14, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Registration is currently open<https://www.aera.net/Events-Meetings/2024-Annual-Meeting/Registration-Housing-and-Travel/Registration-and-Rates>; early bird discount deadline is February 22nd.

If you're presenting at the upcoming conference, send your information to our communications team (soecomm at ucr.edu<mailto:soecomm at ucr.edu>) to share with the SOE community. While you're there or afterwards, send in your photos for a conference round-up.

The School of Education is partnering with American Educational Research Association (AERA) to offer you reduced dues for graduate student membership. This 1-year introductory program is a unique opportunity open only to doctoral students who have not been members of AERA previously.



The discounted membership price is $25 and includes membership through December 31, 2024. AERA membership includes a host of benefits including journal access, community and network building, professional development sessions, and more.

Pick up your conference swag!

We have a variety of items you can choose from to take with you to the conference. Available items: SOE lanyard, padfolio, laptop sleeve, pen, keychain and lapel pin. We also have pronoun ribbons that you can attach to your name badge (English and Spanish). Pick up your swag and pronoun ribbons in my office (1124 Sproul Hall) Tuesday-Thursday.
