[Gradstudents] [REMINDER] Professional Development Workshop: Maximizing Your Future in Higher Education

Dear SOE Graduate Students,

Dr. Cynthia Villarreal (Visiting Assistant Professor) in collaboration with Edwin Valderrama (M.Ed. student), Briana Savage (Ph.D. student), and Eric Davidson (Ph.D. student), have co-created our next professional development workshop titled: "Maximizing Your Future in Higher Education" on Wednesday, April 6th from 5:30-6:45 pm (75 minutes - 60 for panel and 15 for Q&A).

Panelists will discuss:

·         Factors that informed their decisions to pursue Ph.D. or Ed.D. programs

·         Advice for practitioners after completing an M.Ed.

·         Strategies for combating or challenging norms in higher education

·         Ways to create work-life balance and avoid burnout

Gloria Anglón is a Ph.D. student in the Urban Education Policy program, with a concentration in higher education at the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education. She serves as a research assistant at the Pullias Center for Higher Education, examining racial and gender inequities in graduate education and the disciplines, advised by Dr. Julie Posselt. Her desire to pursue this research comes after serving as an administrator in roles that advanced diversity in graduate education at MIT, Harvard, and University of Maryland College Park.  Ah Ra Cho, Ph.D.<https://www.linkedin.com/in/ahracho/>

Dr. Ah Ra Cho is the Lead Institutional Customer Insights Researcher at Cengage Group, a global education technology company. She is an experienced Higher Education Administrator with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in Student Development, Student Leadership, Post-secondary/Adult Education, College Student Success, Transfer Pathways, Academic & Student Affairs Collaborations, Assessment, Evaluation, Accreditation, Teaching & Learning, Educational Technology, Institutional Research & Effectiveness, Institutional Policies. Natalie Hart, Ed.D.<https://www.linkedin.com/in/drnatalienkhart/>

Dr. Natalie Hart is a project manager for Cyborg Mobile, a technology and management consultant group. She recently graduated with her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California, at Rossier's College of Education. At USC, she worked as an Assistant Learning Specialist for USC Athletics and was the Program Assistant for USC's Political Science and International Relations Ph.D. program. Ángel de Jesus Gonzalez, Ed.D.<https://www.linkedin.com/in/agonzal6/>

Dr. Ángel de Jesus Gonzalez is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Pullias Center for Higher Education at USC working on a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation project examining leadership in higher education. As a scholar, Dr. Gonzalez's research agenda includes 1) examining the conditions, experiences, and outcomes in community colleges for minoritized students with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ and Latinx students; 2) Latinx Leadership; 3) racial equity policy implementation. Prior to this work, Dr. González served as a practitioner for over 8 years in particular within the community college sector and went on to earn an Ed.D. in Community College Leadership from San Diego State University (SDSU).
